PLENARY SPEAKERS
Richard Johnstone
Professor Richard Johnstone took up the position of Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Quality Enhancement) at the University of Technology, Sydney, in March 2000. He has worked in universities in the UK and Australia and has held senior administrative appointments at Charles Sturt University and the University of Sydney. He is Deputy Chairman of the Australian Universities Teaching Committee and a member of the Board of the Graduate Careers Council of Australia. He chairs the GCCA's Survey Reference Group that oversees the Course Experience Questionnaire, the Postgraduate Research Experience Questionnaire, and the Graduate Destination Survey.
Carolyn Webb
Associate Professor Carolyn Webb is Director of Educational Development at the University of Western Sydney where she has worked for 5 years. Prior to that, she was founding Head of the Learning Centre at the University of Sydney. She has taught and researched in the fields of educational linguistics and educational development, with a particular emphasis on investigating the processes of learning and teaching across all levels of university study and work. She has published scholarly papers on the processes and outcomes of collaborative curriculum development work integrating literacy perspectives within a range of disciplines, and on research in the assessment of literacy skills in university undergraduate programs. Her more recent work has focussed on institutional development in the areas of flexible learning and staff development.
